BUY ORGANIC OR NOT?

To lose weight and optimize your health, it is important that you eat fresh fruits and vegetables. However, while cultivated, these products are sprayed with synthetic pesticides. These pesticides protect crops from mold, insects and diseases. The problem is that there is a pesticide residue that is not eliminated when washing fruit and vegetables. These pesticide residues present significant risks to health, particularly for children. For adults, pesticides increase the amount of toxins that accumulate daily, affecting the way you look and feel.

Studies have been done with animals for many years where it has been seen that pesticides disrupt the nervous and hormonal systems and increase the risk of cancer. Your body can get rid of toxins such as pesticides, but only a limited amount. In todays world, you are exposed to excessive amounts of toxins daily through the food you eat, the water you drink or use, the air you breathe, the products you use on your skin or the ones you use to clean your home. All the toxins that your body cannot process and get rid of will accumulate inside your body, and over time, will have a major negative impact in the way you feel, in your health and in the fat you store. Toxins inside your body are stored in fat cells. Therefore, while you have toxins stored in your fat cells, you will not be able to lose the fat no matter how much you exercise.

A great step toward to improving your health is to buy organic fruits and vegetables. The products that are certified as organic are those that have been harvested and processed by following certain practices geared to reduce pesticides and pollution. Organic products are grown with natural methods and fertilizers to feed the land and plants and to control the weeds, insects and diseases. To find out which products are organic you need to check that they are labeled “USDA Organic”.

The main problem with the organic products is that they are more expensive because the costs of producing them are higher. Another problem is that the organic products can spoil faster because they are not treated with preservatives. A solution to the high cost problem is to only buy “organic” for those fruits and vegetables that have been classified as the “The Dirty Dozen”. In several studies, these twelve products turned out to have the highest level of pesticide residues. By buying these products organic, you will be taking a big step towards minimizing the amount of toxins you consume.
